Live Docent Tours on Zoom- Back to Celebrate The Girard Wing 40th!

 Kick-off the 40th Anniversary of the Alexander Girard Wing with Museum of International Folk Art in December. As part of the Celebration we invite you to join us for 3 different virtual tours  presented over zoom with our our Fabulous Docents as your guides. Please note tours run on MOUNTAIN TIME. Alexander Girard’s Nativities

On this holiday virtual tour, you will be treated to folk art Nativity sets from  from many countries of the world, including Italy, Peru, Poland, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Greece and France collected by Alexander and Susan Girard.  During this festive season, celebrate with Girard his love for Nativities that enthralled him as a child and he grew to collect. MOIFA has over 200 sets from his folk art Nativity collection.  The tour includes historical background, fun facts about Girard’s original Nativity installations, and a few surprises.  

A TIME TO CELEBRATE: "FAB FAVES" AS THE GIRARD WING TURNS 40

 Would you love to dive deeper into MOIFA’s Girard Wing in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Wing ? Here’s an all new look with the amazing stops that top everyone’s favorites list, including docents, staff and guests. Tour or re-tour, if you have been before you will find something new every time. The 10 “stop” tour lasts about 55 minutes.

FOCUS ON FIVE in Multiple Visions: Common Bonds
Do you Love Folk Art? Can't wait to see MOIFA’s Girard Wing with its 10,000 pieces of vibrantly colored and fantastically arranged folk art from dozens of countries? Here’s an opportunity to tour or re-tour—virtually—Alexander Girard’s last massive art installation from the comfort of your home with fantastic MOIFA docents. The five “stop” tour lasts about 40 minutes.

 ONSITE Reserved Group Tours 

Are you a group of ten or more? If you would like to schedule a docent-led tour for your group, please contact Dawn at 505-476-1207 or dawn.kaufmann@dca.nm.gov, at least one month prior to the date of your visit. Please be aware our group tours are very limited at this time and cannot be guaranteed. Tours for very large groups are not available at this time, please schedule ahead for your group rate for your self-guided group.

ONSITE Educational Groups | Self-guided or Guided Visits 

There is no charge for New Mexico education groups attending the museum with their instructor and/or adult chaperones.

2022-23 School Year
Guided school tours are available on Wednesdays for Elementary students, or Thursdays for Middle & High School. Please schedule your class or group at least 1 month in advance. Large groups need to split and rotate students with other Museums or Botanical Garden on Museum Hill.
Limited bus reimbursement monies are available for SFPS In-District Free Lunch Schools; funding is on a first come first serve basis for eligible schools.
