MOIFA Tours 

Walk-in Tours - Back On-Site!

 Our docents open up the world of folk art and the history of the museum to you. Docent Walk-in tours are back onsite, but remain limited. Tours are offered at 10:30am on Wednesdays-Mondays, and Thursdays at 2pm.

Docent tours with ASL interpretation are available by request. Please confirm ASL interpretation needs with at least 3 days of advance notice to Patricia Sigala at: patricia.sigala@dca.nm.gov

Alexander Girard’s Nativities- Celebrate the Holiday Season with us Online

On this holiday virtual tour, you will be treated to folk art Nativity sets from  from many countries of the world, including Italy, Peru, Poland, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Greece and France collected by Alexander and Susan Girard.  During this festive season, celebrate Girard's love for Nativities that enthralled him as a child and that he grew to collect. MOIFA has over 200 sets from his folk art Nativity collection.  The tour includes historical background, fun facts about Girard’s original Nativity installations, and a few surprises.  Register below for the live zoom date of your choice, all tours are on MOuntain Time:

Reserved Group Tours 

Are you a group of ten or more? To schedule a docent-led tour for your group, please contact Dawn at 505-476-1207 or dawn.kaufmann@dca.nm.gov,  to request at least one month prior to the date of your visit. Please be aware our group tours are very limited at this time and not available most weekends. Guided tours cannot be guaranteed ahead. Please plan to confirm guided requests 3 weeks prior to your visit.  Our GROUP RATE IS $8.00 PER ADULT with a minimum of TEN OR MORE PEOPLE. Tour guides and bus drivers pay admission.   GUIDED Tours for large groups over 40 people are not available at this time. Groups over 40 people may self-guide, please schedule ahead for to receive the group rate for your self-guided group.


Educational Groups | Guided or Self-guided Visits 2023-2024

Providing educational exhibit-focused tours for all age groups exploring art and cultures from around the world. All our scheduled school tours and visits are FREE of charge for NM educational groups. You may plan to visit MOIFA in a group of up to two classrooms per visit. Guided school group tours may be scheduled from September 20th through May 2024.

Want to know more about MOIFA’s Girard Wing with its 10,000 pieces of vibrantly colored and fantastically arranged folk art from dozens of countries? Here’s an opportunity to tour or re-tour—virtually—this massive folk art installation from the comfort of your home or hotel with fantastic MOIFA docents. The five “stop” tour lasts about 45 minutes. Please note tour runs on Mountain Time!
